7 Super Simple Ways to Love Your Skin

7 Super Simple Ways to Love Your Skin

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and while you spend time showering loved ones with praise and affection, don’t forget to love yourself! Particularly, your skin :). Here are 8 super simple ways to love your skin.

Cleanse your face properly and consistently.

  • Use a gentle cleanser and avoid products containing harsh exfoliants, alcohol, acids, and coloring agents as these can irritate and damage the skin
  • Use lukewarm water
  • Don’t forget about the neck and hairline
  • Pat skin dry with a towel (do not rub!)

Eat good things! Things like…

Eat Good Things
  • Pomegranates: full of polyphenol antioxidants, pomegranates help fight free radicals and regulate blood flow to the skin
  • Greek Yogurt: the protein in Greek yogurt can help skin become firmer and more resistant to lines
  • Walnuts: The omega-3 essential fatty acids found in walnuts can boost collagen production and improve skin’s elasticity

Drink more water, or better yet, lemon water.

Drink Lemon Water

Not only does drinking water throughout the day help keep your skin hydrated, the vitamin C as well as other antioxidants in lemon help to combat free-radical damage.

Protect against damaging UV radiation.

Protect Against UV Rays

Exposure to UV radiation leads to premature skin aging, wrinkles, sun spots, and possibly skin cancer. Protect your skin by wearing broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen on all exposed areas (don’t forget to reapply) and using UPF 50+ sun protective clothing.

Turn down the heat on your shower head and set the timer.

Turn Down The Heat

Taking shorter showers with warm water (NOT hot) will prevent excessive moisture loss and irritation to your skin.

Give Dry Brushing a try!

Dry brushing can stimulate circulation, rejuvenate the nervous system, boost skin elasticity, and remove dead skin cells. Be sure to avoid skin that is broken or irritated and clean your brush after each use with soap and water. Not sure how to use a dry brush? Get more sleep.

Get More Sleep

According to WebMD, each time you sleep your skin goes through a “repair process” where it creates new collagen that helps to prevent sagging and maintain skin elasticity. Not getting enough rest limits this repair process and results in more fine lines, drier skin, and can cause your skin to look drab or lifeless (they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!)
