California’s Skin Cancer Bill Gets Closer to Law
More California State employees may be able to file a workers’ comp claim for skin cancer treatment in the near future.
Assembly Bill AB-334 would extend the skin cancer coverage already given to law-enforcement officers and lifeguards to a larger group of state employees. The group would include peace officers for the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Thanks to a positive vote by the California State Assembly’s Committee on Insurance this past Thursday, AB-334 is one step closer to becoming a law. Next, the bill is headed to the Assembly’s Appropriations Committee.
Now, we just need to get all of these outdoor workers properly outfitted with UPF 50+ protection.
