Commonly referred to as SPF clothing, our sunwear for babies, kids, men and women includes swim shirts or sun shirts in the smallest baby UV swimwear sizes up to hard-to-find plus size UV protective swimwear for men and women. While UV protective hats and clothing are best, we keep you covered from head to toe with our carefully screened selection of broad-spectrum mineral block and organic sunscreens, UV shorts and other sun protection accessories.

What does UPF mean?
UV Skinz sun protective swim wear carries a UPF rating of 50+, blocking out over 98% of the sun's harmful UV rays and protecting delicate skin from damaging sunburns. UPF, or ultraviolet protection factor, is the clothing equivalent to SPF, or sun protection factor, in sunscreen and 50+ is the highest UPF rating that can be given to clothing. All of our UV Skinz are tested and rated in accordance with AATCC183 and ASTM D6544, the highest standards in UV fabric testing.

Why not just use sunscreen?
Sunscreen isn't always enough, is often not used correctly and some folks have skin allergies or sensitivities to harsh chemicals that SPF sunscreens can contain. Wearing UV protective clothing like our fun, cool UV Skinz sun protective swim shirts, is an important step in preventing sunburns, premature aging of the skin and skin cancer.

Many sunscreens do not contain adequate coverage, only protect against UVB rays but not the more penetrating UVA rays, contain harmful toxins or simply aren't applied correctly. We've done a lot of homework to recommend some of the safest and most effective sunscreens for various applications.

Why is protective swimwear so important for children?
Most children will experience 50-80% of their lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18 so teaching sun safe skin and eye health habits from day one is crucial. UV Skinz keeps babies and kids covered from top to bottom in reversible kids' UV buckets hats, long and short sleeved UV swim shirts, UV board shorts and UV boy-cut shorts. UV Skinz bright and colorful separates are designed to be mixed and matched with the added benefit of helping you to be able to easily spot your little ones during water play time or in crowded public places. What makes UV Skinz so unique?
Unlike typical rashguards or other protective swim shirts available on the market, UV Skinz are intended to fit snugly but not skin tight which allows for maximum freedom of movement and comfort all day long. The t-shirt like design lets you breathe comfortably just as the micro fiber silky smooth material breathes while wicking moisture for quick drying. UV Skinz UPF swim shirts are also designed with lightweight fabrics, larger than normal neck holes, flat-lock stitching and an absence of appliqués that often irritate skin.
