Article: Earth Day Starts Outside

Earth Day Starts Outside

Every year on April 22, people around the world celebrate Earth Day. It’s a simple idea at its core: take a moment to appreciate the places we love and think about how we can help take care of them.

For many families, that starts by getting outside. A walk through the neighborhood, a beach day, time at the park, or a weekend hike. These are the moments Earth Day is really about. Fresh air, sunshine, and the places that make those moments possible.

Why It Matters to Us

At UV Skinz, everything we do is built around time outside.

Our products are designed for the beach, the pool, the trail, and everyday life under the sun. We believe that spending time outdoors is one of the simplest ways to support your health and well-being, and it is often how people build a real connection to the world around them.

When you spend more time outside, you naturally start to care about protecting those spaces. Earth Day is a reminder of that.

Small Steps That Add Up

We know that creating products comes with an impact. That is part of doing business, and it is something we continue to pay attention to as we grow.

One way we are working to reduce that impact is through our partnership with CleanHub. Together, we help fund the collection of plastic waste before it can enter the environment, especially in coastal areas where it can do the most harm.

So far, UV Skinz has helped prevent over 230,000 pounds of single-use plastic from entering ecosystems around the world.

It is one piece of a bigger picture, but it is a meaningful one that we are proud to be a part of.

A Smarter Way to Stay Sun Safe

Spending more time outside also means thinking about how we protect ourselves while we are there.

Although sunscreen is an important part of a daily sun-safe routine, many commonly used ingredients have raised concerns about their impact on marine environments, especially in heavily visited coastal areas.

UPF clothing, like UV Skinz, does not have this issue.

All of our products are third-party tested and certified to provide UPF 50+ protection that does not wash out over time. It is built-in coverage you can rely on, without needing constant reapplication throughout the day.

By covering more of your skin with UPF clothing, you can reduce the overall amount of sunscreen needed and thus reduce your negative impact on sensitive environments.

For areas that cannot be covered by clothing, we recommend using mineral-based sunscreens without harmful ingredients. These are better for the environment and your overall health.

A Simple Way to Celebrate

Earth Day does not have to be complicated.

It can be as simple as getting outside, enjoying the sun safely, and taking a moment to appreciate the places that make those experiences possible.

At UV Skinz, that is what we are here for. Helping you spend more time outside with comfort and confidence, while staying connected to the world around you.

Because the more we enjoy it, the more we will want to protect it.
